ReDesign!

Every once in a while I have to stop what I’m doing and make time to organize some things on my own website.  If you’re reading this, then I’ve managed to launch a redesign of my site.  The content has largely remained the same, though there have been a lot of visual tweaks here and there.  The biggest change for us is that the entire site is now running in WordPress, whereas everything used to be hand coded with the exception of the blog.  We used the amazing Portfolio theme by WPESP as our framework for the home page and built the rest of the site around that.  There will no doubt be quite a few changes to be made once I get some sleep and realize all the problems I’ve created (I’m making the list in my head as we speak), so bear with me for the next couple of days (alright, weeks) as I get this thing a little more polished.

The biggest up side to doing the redesign, aside from the need aesthetic changes, certainly seems to be the new portfolio page.  The old page didn’t include any information about the sites themselves.  They were just screen shots and a link.  The new page includes date, description of services, etc.  And as if that weren’t change enough I’ve gone and moved the whole thing to the home page.  The biggest down side?  Moving the site to WordPress means that my PageRank, which was solid 5′s and 6′s before the redesign, is going to have to go away for what I hope is a very temporary while.

In the meantime, let’s do some side-by-side comparison.  Below are before and after screen shots of the services and portfolio pages.  What do you think?
