Fred Astaire, Chagrin

I was very excited to work with Bryan at BSalva.com again for the Fred Astaire Chagrin website. As has become the norm in our relationship, Bryan handled much of the design while I put things together on the code side. The launch of this website marked my first formal adventure into building a site entirely in HTML5 / CSS3, which allowed us to try some new things in modern browsers. We also implemented some more traditional features like a JavaScript photo gallery, an events calendar, and a simple email contact form.

The other exciting piece of this design was that we wrapped the whole thing in Unify, the content editor from Unit Interactive. Unify is a genius bit of software that allows clients to hop on and make content edits without the need for a fully-featured CMS. I can’t imagine building a static site for a client without using something like this in the future. It went in easily, we had very little trouble learning the ins and outs of the software, and the usability of the client-side app is really second to none. We can’t recommend it’s usefulness enough on small, static websites.
